Civil Litigation
Civil litigation essentially includes all litigation not involving allegations of criminal activity. Although probate court and family court are considered civil cases, they are handled in a court of exclusive jurisdiction.
Civil law may include personal injury. A personal injury can be defined as an accident, such as a car wreck or a slip and fall on someone’s property, where you as an individual are injured in some way. A personal injury also includes an intentional act where someone hurts you, in some form or fashion, on purpose. It may be a car accident or an injury because someone fell and was injured. The civil court may also include business and contract disputes, or construction disputes. These cases generally occur when someone fails to abide by terms of an agreement.
South Carolina has two levels of civil court. Our office will be happy to schedule a consultation to review your situation and assist in determining your best course of action.
